The CERT Basic Training Course consists of the following learning modules:
- Module One- Disaster Preparedness
- Module Two- CERT Organization
- Module Three- Fire Safety and Utilities Control
- Module Four- Disaster Medical Operations Part 1- Life threatening conditions and triage.
- Module Five- Disaster Medical Operations Part 2- Patient assessments, first aid, and setting up disaster treatment areas.
- Module Six- Light Search and Rescue
- Module Seven- Disaster Psychology
- Module Eight- CERT and Terrorism
- Disaster simulation
Upon completion of the eight taught modules, CERT volunteers participate in a disaster simulation where they are given the opportunity practice their skills while experiencing a realistic disaster scenario.
