Under normal staffing conditions, Site Security processes foreign nationals in approximately 10 business days, however, we ask that you prepare for processing times of up to 20 business days to ensure your guests and employees are properly reviewed and approved to access to the lab.
All employees and guests of the Laboratory who are not U.S. citizens must provide documentation of their immigrant or non-immigrant status to verify identity and authority to work, i.e., visa, passport, or green card. For information about visa processing at Berkeley Lab, please visit Visa Services.
All foreign nationals are documented in the Foreign Access Central Tracking System (FACTS) where approvals, documents, and curriculum vitae are recorded. Until approved in FACTS, foreign nationals may not receive a badge or begin work at Berkeley Lab. Please reference the FVA applicability chart below:
S&T Risk Matrix: S&T Risk Matrix screening is performed for all employees and affiliates working on S&T Risk Matrix restricted projects. If you are unsure of whether or not the S&T Risk Matrix applies to your work, contact your Division Director for confirmation.
