All foreign nationals visiting Lab sites must be processed through DOE. There are varying lead times and processes for visitors from different countries, so please pay attention to instructions below. If you are unsure of your visitor’s affiliations or citizenship, we suggest planning for the maximum suggested lead time. See a flow chart of the differences.
Foreign national visitors from a country not on the Sensitive Countries List (SCL) must have a submitted visitor request to DOE prior to accessing the Lab; however, they do not require DOE approval for site access to be granted. In order for the Lab’s FNAP team to submit the request to DOE, the following will be required: a visitor request from the host, along with a CV, visa, and other information gathered from the visitor. It may take around 21 calendar days to process these types of requests after all of the information is received from both the host and prospective visitor. Working with your visitor to ensure they upload the required documents in a timely manner will help to make the turnaround time as fast as possible.
Submit a visitor access request for an individual from a country not on the SCL.
If your visitor is a foreign national born in, with citizenship from, or affiliated with a country on the SCL, these individuals must be granted DOE approval before access is permitted. Please submit visitor access requests as early as possible. These reviews may take up to 60 calendar days to complete. Please instruct individuals to wait until they receive notice of approval before traveling to come onsite.
